South East Strategic Reservoir Option (SESRO)
Thanks to everyone who shared feedback during our South East Strategic Reservoir Option (SESRO) project statutory consultation from 28 October 2025 to 13 January 2026.
We sought feedback on:
- Our indicative master plan
- Our current design proposals
- Our indicative construction activities and schedule
- Managing potential impacts on local communities and the environment
- Our approach to sustainability, project benefits and legacy
We're aware that a small number of people have been unable to submit longer comments due to a character limit on the online form. While we have found it sufficiently generous for the vast majority of responses and during other consultations, we want to make sure everyone can have their say. As such, if you wish to submit a long response to our consultation, please email sesro@ipsos.com. We'll accept responses up to 23 January 2026.
Your feedback is important as we update our proposed design and further develop any mitigation measures. We’ll provide further updates on the project ahead of our Development Consent Order (DCO) submission in late 2026.
Our indicative master plan
We produced a range of consultation materials to help you find out more about our proposals, including documents, videos and maps. In our document library, our Statutory Consultation Brochure provided an overview of the project, our current proposals and the public consultation. We also produced a Consultation Materials Fact Sheet which set out what consultation materials were available.
Printed copies of consultation documents were available at our community information events, and at selected venues in your local community, such as libraries and community centres. These deposit locations and information points were also listed in our Document Library.

The Preliminary Environmental Information (PEI) Report showed our initial assessment of the project’s likely significant environmental effects. The PEI Report Non-Technical Summary (NTS) document summarised this information.
We also created a digital interactive version of the PEI Report NTS, which guided you through the chapters showing relevant information on various maps.
